Founder Mary Beth Ericson's first baby was born in Italy while she and her husband were stationed there with the US Air Force. Equipped with a Masters in Public Health, Mary Beth knew and implemented all of the recommendations for keeping her baby safe in his crib. But he woke often. For eight sleepless months, Mary Beth worried about her baby's inability to sleep on his own and her own exhaustion.
A Dutch friend finally suggested trying a "sleep bag" that many European children use. Although skeptical that the fix could be so simple, Mary Beth borrowed one and tried it. Six blissful hours later, her son awoke, having slept through the night for the first time. He's slept with his L'il Bugger Hugger™ ever since. After a few weeks, he began to associate the L'il Bugger Hugger™ with his sleeptime. When he's tired, he asks for it and when placed in it he calms. Whether travelling or at home, he finds safety, comfort and warmth in his Hugger.
Now stationed back in the US, Mary Beth (at the request of many of her American friends) has refined the European bag design and is pleased to share what has worked so well for her family and children all over Europe.
With a growing business to run and 3 boys to raise, Mary Beth found it difficult to balance business demands, family responsibilities and her desire to spend time with her children. Her baby was too young for the popular front carrier she had used--and she found it cumbersome and uncomfortable. When she carried him in her arms, she had difficulty working or caring for her other children. Then a friend introduced her to a sling. Although it wasn't stylish and needed a redesign, Mary Beth recognized how helpful it could be to today's busy parent. With the newly styled, more versatile Lil Bugger Snugger, she taking the stling mainstream.
